The Porcelain Veneer Process

Receiving porcelain veneers is a fast and easy process completed right here at our Farmington Hills dental office. In just two visits, you’ll achieve the beautiful smile you’ve been envisioning. During your first visit, Dr. Shlafer will take digital impressions of your teeth to ensure your veneers are created to fit perfectly. He’ll also lightly buff and re-shape the surface of your teeth.

Your veneers should be ready in about two weeks. You’ll then return to our office for your veneer placement. Dr. Shlafer will use a strong dental resin to bond them to your teeth. The process will then be completed by shining a special light on your teeth to harden the resin and solidify the bond of your new veneers.

Lumineers: An Alternative to Porcelain Veneers

Lumineers are a smaller type of veneer that requires less preparation. They’re ultra-thin, translucent, and don't require any of your natural tooth enamel to be removed. Best of all, most Lumineer treatments only take one appointment to complete. Since Lumineers are very thin, they’re not recommended for patients who have dark stains or severe discoloration of the teeth. They can also be easily damaged if you clench or grind your teeth.
