When you have missing teeth, everyday tasks like chewing food and speaking can become difficult. A fixed porcelain bridge may be the perfect solution.
A fixed bridge is a prosthetic that is used to replace missing teeth for patients who still have some natural teeth. These natural teeth are used as “anchors” for the bridge to attach to on either side. An artificial tooth (called a pontic) fits in the space to “bridge” the gap. These fixed bridges look natural and allows patients to regain function.
Getting a fixed bridge takes several visits to our office. During your first appointment, the teeth to which your bridge will attach are prepared. Some of the tooth structure will be removed to allow for the crowns that will cover them. We will take impressions which will be sent to a dental lab where your bridge will be created. As soon as your bridge is complete, you will come back in to have it placed. Additional appointments may be required to get the perfect fit.
